Ikimono Gakari - Futari (Boku no Imouto Dorama Theme)

A few days ago, it was announced that Ikimono Gakari was chosen to provide the new opening song for the "Naruto Shippuden" anime series. Now, they have been given another major tie-in for the spring, with the theme song to the TBS drama "Boku no Imouto" (starring Joe Odagiri and Masami Nagasawa).

The song is a ballad titled "Futari." It will be released as a single on May 27, but it is not yet known if the single will include "Hotaru no Hikari" (their song for "Naruto").

"Boku no Imouto" premieres on April 19 and airs on Sundays at 9:00pm.

Yeah!!!! New single, now listening via youTube... Kiyoe's voice is perfect!!

The song is pretty in some parts, but it's BORING! I'm glad they're getting good publicity and more exposure, but I want to hear some fun and cool music from them, like Kimagure Romantic or Happy Smile Again.

^ well maybe it would be much more pleasing to hear this if its incorporated with a good drama video/music video or something...but its not that bad at all, and i kinda like the musicality perspective of this song...they used pretty good instruments.

yeah i agree...i also want them to produce more fun and upbeat songs again, like they did with the super cool song "Natsuzora Graffiti"...but i guess as time goes by and they are not as young as before probably thats the reason why they create more serious songs rather than pop songs...the maturity of their songs are becoming more distinctive if i must say....

That's the problem with this song for me. It does sound similar to a lot of the j-pop I've been hearing lately. It almost seems as if Mizuno-san composed the song like it was an assignment from some Sony bigwig. I can almost hear the conversation in my head:

Sony bossman-sama: Mizuno-san! Could you do me a favor? We need a new opening theme to this TV show...

Oh well, you can't love everything I suppose. I still do love 99% of their music ('My song Your song' has been in my car cd player since January!). Here's hoping they don't keep us waiting too long until their next release (that's NOT a ballad, hopefully)!

But you can't blame them for that! O.o If it's a trend, it is. Maybe you should check (or include new artists) what are you listening.

And now you said that it sounds like music for another artist. I don't get it. You don't want them to make sounds like other artists but you want them to make another Kimagure Romantic or Happy Smile Again?

I don't care if they sound like anyone else. I don't listen to every single artist. I like Kiyoes voice (which is really important for me) and it's impossible for the band/groups/singers have a completely unique style, because everything is invented.

BTW, Kimagure Romantic or Happy Smile Again sound like a Hello! Project song, which is fine for me, but I wouldn't call unique.
