I have an idea for a possible background image if it's not too much trouble.

Does anybody know the hard limits for maximum (or optimal) pixel dimensions for a tiled background image? I figure I should know the constraints I'm working with before I start playing around in photoshop.

^I don't know if there are any constraints besides ones own monitor resolution to display the forum. The image I used was 1280x720 and I made it so it wouldn't move so it kept the same as you scroll down.

Okay, how about any filesize limits?

I'm guessing that since there aren't limits to the dimensions, there probably isn't a limit to the filesize either?

^I think not, especially since I used an external image hosting service.

I haven't gotten around to making the possible background yet, but for now, here is the new post/topic circle with transparency:

I'm not sure if the cropped version is necessary since the background of the forums are pretty light.

The preview images make it look really weird, but the transparency does work properly.

Already switched it. The white background on that gif did bother me a little but I haven't tried editing a gif in "ages".

Just noticed that the current circle isn't centered correctly because of the crop so try changing to this new one when you have time:


I think we didn't notice earlier because it's only really noticeable when it's to the left lined up with all the dark blue circles.

After half a month, I finally got around to making that background I wanted to try making. I'll upload it in a little bit.

I had originally tried to erase the text from Dnee's booklet scans, but then after spending all that time erasing I thought maybe having the text there would make the tiling look nicer so I redid it with the text still there.

I went with 500 width, but if another width works better just let me know and I'll resize the image.

Edit again: noticed some problems in the edges of the image so I fixed it by cloning parts of the image and patching things up.

This next image should tile better, hopefully.

^Ok, so I replaced the background. It is indeed a nice picture.

Let me know if you want the background to be fixed like it is now or loading as you scroll.

I'm okay with either way, so just go with whatever you think is best.

Here's another version with a slightly modified offset so the text starts closer to the corner.



It might work better so the top of the screen doesn't start with "て ものり"

Hey again, it's been two months so this is kind of way too late to be asking about, but do you think you could make the white part of the background transparent?

I was thinking the cloud background might look better that way.

How is it?

I like how it makes the forum look like it's floating in front of the sky.

What do you think about it? Does it make the text too hard to read or is it okay?

If it makes the text too hard to read, I could try to lighten the text on the background later since I still have the original images saved.

Since the messages are in a grey backdrop I think it's easy to read. I like the point of view of the forum floating in the sky. ^_^
