So it says the new song will feature a commercial from the food company Yamazaki Baking. Niji (虹) (English: Rainbow) will be the tie-in for the companys "Rainbow lunch pack" CM.

A translated news entry from Tokyohive is online. The song was already released yesterday as digital single. So only available in Japan.

Ikimonogakari to release new live DVD/Blu-ray + new song 'Niji'

Ikimonogakari will release their new live DVD/Blu-ray "Ikimonogakari no Minasan, Konnitour!! 2013 ~I~" on March 26th.

Ikimonogakari held a nationwide tour of the same title from September to December of 2013. The DVD/Blu-ray will feature Nippon Budokan concerts of the tour, which were held on November 22nd and 23rd. The limited edition will come with a CD containing audio tracks from the live.

Additionally, Ikimonogakari's new song "Niji" has been released digitally on January 1st. Written by Yamashita Hotaka (G, Harmonica), it's described as a number filled with a sense of speed, and it will be used as the CM song for Yamazaki's 'Lunch Pack'.

Mostly the reason ist the exclusive digital release in Japan. So as american or european you have no chance to buy this. I only listened to this youtube version so far but when you rip this one you have a quality loss. I'm sure they will release Niji on their next single at least as b-side.

Yes, probably so.

In this case it is probably ending up as a coupling song on the next single, as Tao said. It makes business sense to release it only digitally if there was not a strong duo of tracks to be made into a physical single.

Also, having into account the way the band has been marketed, I get the feeling that Sony has little to no interest in promoting them in other markets, regrettable as that may be.

They already have two songs digitally released this year (now that Love Song ga Tomaranai yo has come)... can't they be compiled as a single now? But the fact that there are also singles that only have one song and its instrumental in it (such is the case of Haru Uta, Kimi ga Iru and Kaze ga Fuiteiru)... I think the two songs, using my instinct, are "second-song materials" (I get a feeling that they don't suit to be a single, nor a single's titular song, nor as a first song in a single... I mean I have the feeling that they are being saved for singles that they could be put as second songs or they will be included songs for their next album)... Well I do hope they get to release them to non-Japanese fans too. Sad
