That right under the name is the user rank in the forum and is increased with the number of posts.

Points, to my knowledge, are increased by receiving positive points in the posts the user makes. If you look closely, next to the avatar, to its left, there are a plus and minus signals which represent the liking or disliking of a certain post. So if you liked something someone posted you can "thank" him by giving him a plus sign, augmenting its points.

The reputation I'm not sure but I think it is regulated by the post per day ratio.
