nostalgia is an english word meaning a state of being homesick...though originally it is a greek word that describes a yearning for the past...i guess it is also been used by the spanish people.

Nostalgia is used in Portuguese as well, also meaning what you described as the Greek word. For example, when I think back to the days when I was a kid running around playing football I feel nostalgia.

seems the word 'nostalgia' used in many countries, included my country.
