6th album "I" [OUT 2013.07.24]

Anyway I haven't listen the new songs yet. I've been curious with Ikimonogakari's newest album since NEWTRAL hoho  

My favorite songs are "My Sunshine Story", "Haru Uta" and "MONSTAR". Especially "My Sunshine Story" has a classic touch from their old days.
"Papapa~ya" sounds funny as expected.

I absolutely love the new album. It kind of reminds me of Iki's first album 'sakura saku michi monogatari'. Even the ballads. For me it is their best release since the past few years !

It's been a while i saw Kiyoe with a pigtail or generally a diffrent hairstyle.  

I always wanted her to see her hair tied, so that her cute and round face shows up more.

On to the album, in my honest opinion, their music recently became more "POP-ish", maybe because their target market changed as well. Their control over their song choice and compositions got limited because of the management. I guess that's what probably most happens when you step in to the mainstream.

No?? I hate Sony Music Japan   if they were claming copyrights over the new songs that's fine but they didn't have to block the whole channel.  I only downloaded one part of one of the interviews.  

It's stuff like this that really pisses me off.  

And about the "new direction" (it's not really new it's been like that since Hajimari no Uta), I can't only imagine how much pressure the 3 of them face, think about it they are not quite a rock band, they are quite not a pop band, they don't dance (except for some attemps that I guess management tried to impose), they have to appeal to both teenagers and young people as well as their parents.  And to be succesful in Japan being this type of band I guess it's complicated as hell.  I just hope they don't change the live sets in tours to come and they continue to play their best songs (not that I don't like some of the new songs, but IMO the new records can't compete with the first 3).  It's all Seiji Kameda's fault.   (kidding...sort of).

Yep, not that they don't deliver good songs consistently but I'm inclined to agree.

I really enjoyed Egao. I have to listen more songs from Ikimono Gakari, I stopped in Waraitetanda, and skipped straight to newtral that I didn't liked so much.
I don't know why I didn't liked so much their new stuff, but when I her the oldest stuff I kinda like so much.
I liked Hajimari no Uta, but not so much as well, but a bit more than NEWTRAL, so I gonna wait for this album to release, and listen to it carefully.

I would like to know what is the best songs from NEWTRAL (your opinions), so I'll take note and listen later.

I like almost all of songs in newtral
But let me recommend you, Chikyuu is a great song.
It was a song they made when they were still in high school.

And Renshi, NEW WORLD MUSIC, Warattetainda is my favorites too.
I love these kinds of music from Ikimono Gakari.

I don't listen to Ikimono Gakari's musics for a long time so I'm excited to listen again.
It's normal that a band changes with time, mostly if it's a artist from Sony -.- why do you think yui stoped being YUI?

Hey there Gabriel! Welcome back!
Putting the singles aside, I agree with Chikyuu but would also go for Shiroi Diary, Renshi and Ai Kotoba. They are different tunes with different moods so maybe some will struck a chord with you, maybe some won't.

yeah when I hear to this album I just feel some songs are not ikimono's tyle  
I hope they wont change until I get to see their concert  

Aruite Ikou, Itsudatte Bokura Wa, Ai ni Kuyo, Chikyuu and New World Music are my fave songs in the Newtral Album, go check them out.

Lately I got hooked with the song "Tokyo" 3rd best song after Kaze ga Fuite iru and Haru Uta in this album in my opinion. The song is about the story of Johnny. Hahaha joke.

Btw, I also think that Renai Shousetsu and Nukumuri are good songs too.

My favorites from the whole album...

5. 1 2 3 Koi Ga Hajimaru

The first one is such a fun song, I love how "orchestral" this song is also the many voice changes Kiyoe displays for the song.

Ashita no Sora, I think it's the best Iki song in a long time, it's so good and nostalgic, has a "country" vibe that fits so good with the lyrics and the harmonica solo in this song rules, Hotaka at his best.

Haru Uta it's a song that for some reason I had forgoten about in between records and Im glad that it's included in this album the pace and ryhtm it's so fast but controlled, really good song.

Renai Shousetsu it's a song that like that title says feels like a theme of a Romantic Novel, but only the voice of Kiyoe can make a romantic novel so good.

And 1 2 3 Koi Ga Hajimaru it's a song that puts me in a good mood with all the teenage love theme (yes I have a crush at work).

Personally, I think this is the best album since My Song Your Song, glad that Ikimonogakari still has the ability to blown my mind with their songs. BTW, I cannot wait to hear these songs live, it's going to be the best.
